 A). Dos and Don’ts for Supporting Your Marine, Soldier, and Yourself!--

  Old Dominion Room IV, Patti Smith (Central Illinois Proud Families of

Ever feel overwhelmed in trying to show support for your Marine? Do you sometimes wonder if you are helping or hindering your Marine? Come learn protocol and ways to properly support your Marine. Learn how to find support groups and ways to utilize them in supporting your Marine. Become informed about existing support groups that are already in action that will help you channel your nervous energy into appropriate and welcomed support.


 B). PTSD:Recognition, Treatment, and Survival Guilt--Old Dominion Room III,

  Dr. Bridget Cantrell (Hearts Toward Home International), David Cromer

  (Military Ministries)

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is one of the hardest post deployment syndromes for parents/spouses and families to deal with. Listen as presenters that come from different viewpoints, share their information and experiences on how to recognize the symptoms and how it can impact family everyday life.

Our troops have all seen casualties and although they don’t say it, many wonder “why not me?” Learn about the silent guilt that many of our troops carry on a day-to-day basis and how to help.

 

C). Combat Injuries and Advancement in Rehabiliation Technologies--

  Old Dominion V, Claire and Lynn Beasley

Come listen to the Wounded Warriors share their stories and how their injuries have affected their lives and the lives of their families. Listen as they share their fears, victories, and their determination to work hard on their recovery. Be amazed at their attitudes in spite of the things they have endured. Come and hear about recent technological advances used in prevention and in rehabilitation.

 

D). The Life of a Marine: From Recruitment to Retirement--

  Old Dominion VI- Max Beerup, Michael Nichols(ret.), Gy Sgt. Will Price

Come and learn about what to expect in the life of a Marine. We’ll cover recruitment, experiencing the “yellow footprints," Boot Camp, belonging to a MEU, deployments, IRR and retirement. Find out what it is like to have a Drill Instructor in your face! Learn about the Marines in all the stages of their lives. Presenters will speak from experience!
